About The Candidate
Stanley B. Stallworth

I am extremely excited to announce my candidacy for Mayor of Evergreen.  I deem it an honor to have been solicited by several influential City leaders as well as many everyday citizens like myself to become a candidate for Mayor.

I was born in Evergreen in 1963, and even though my educational and career-related pursuits took me away from Evergreen for many years, I never lost touch with Evergreen or its citizens.  My parents, James (Buddy) Stallworth and Annis Brundidge Stallworth were lifelong residents of Conecuh County, and I visited them frequently while I lived in Chicago.  Both of them were teachers and they instilled principles of diligence, dedication, fortitude, and resilience in my sister, Joyce, and me.  I continued to invest in Evergreen while I was away–creating housing opportunities for Evergreen residents, speaking on local programs, and contributing to worthy charitable and civic causes in Evergreen.  I continuously maintained my membership at Second Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Owassa.

I attended the public schools of Conecuh County and graduated as Salutatorian from Evergreen High School in 1981.  I attended Alabama A&M University in Huntsville, Alabama where I was President of my Fraternity, Alpha Phi Alpha; President of the Sophomore Class; and President of the Student Government Association during my senior year.  I majored in English and Biology and graduated Summa Cum Laude in Spring 1985.

Upon graduation from college, I returned to Evergreen and taught at Lyeffion and Evergreen High Schools during 1985-1987.  I really enjoyed teaching and made some lifelong friendships among fellow teachers and students!  In 1987, I entered law school at the University of Wisconsin.  I graduated in 1990 and moved to Chicago to join the international law Firm, Sidley Austin—the Firm where I would meet and practice alongside Barack Obama and Michelle Robinson (who would later become Mrs. Obama).  Sidley Austin provided a fantastic experience to practice among the greatest legal minds in the world and to work on globally significant transactions.

I became a partner in the Firm’s Commercial Real Estate Group in 1998.  I served as the Worldwide Co-chair of the Firm’s Diversity Committee which sought to expand racial and ethnic diversity within the firm,  and to increase awareness around issues of inclusiveness for all people.  I retired from Sidley Austin in 2014 after enjoying a 24-year career.

I have resided principally in Evergreen since 2016 and I have enjoyed re-affiliating with local organizations and boards.  Currently, I operate several rental properties in Conecuh County, and I manage my law practice, The Stallworth Legal Group.  I am pleased to be raising my twin sons, Innis Brundidge Stallworth and Houston Brundidge Stallworth, in this great little town of ours!

As your Mayor, I will endeavor to bring the highest degree of professionalism, critical thinking, deliberate strategizing, and integrity to the office.  With your cooperation, I will work with citizens and local business owners to stimulate the local economy, revitalize downtown, and

grow much-needed business and revenue within the City and County.  Because Evergreen deserves a “working” mayor, I will actually be present in, and operate within, City Hall!  I will listen to my fellow citizens and engage them in the business of Evergreen!  I will collaborate with all citizens to foster an environment of cooperation, unity, and mutual respect among all of the various constituencies, races, and ethnicities that make up this potentially great City (including the burgeoning Latino population).  With your vote and your help, we will create A MORE PROGRESSIVE EVERGREEN!  We can do it TOGETHER!

As your Mayor, I will bring the following attributes to the Office of the Mayor and my four-year agenda (and beyond) will be as follows.
